Ernie Canadeo

Founder & CEO

Nickname:

I’m sure there are several I don’t know about.
(Editor’s note: Really Ernie, they’re not so bad [i.e. “Ernesto” and “Capo di tutti capi”].)

What exactly do you “do” at EGC?

Make sure the lights stay on and there’s enough pizza and beer for everyone. And of course make sure we are always learning, the work is great, and our clients are happy.

Before you started EGC, what did you do?

I was Director of Co-Op Advertising at RCA Records during the “Studio 54” days of the record business. I started EGC to get away from the crazy parties and late nights. Ha!

Educational highlights?

I have a degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University and studied for my MBA at Fordham. Psychology and Business have proven to be a perfect combination for running an advertising agency.

Explain your proudest career moment.

I have one just about every day. Each time we have a meeting, I look at the ever-growing and talented EGC team and feel proud and amazed that my initials are on the door.

Where are you from?

Long Island! There’s no better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Are you planning any interesting trips?

This past year has brought me to London, Hawaii, New Orleans, Nashville, Michigan, Florida, and other terrific places, both for clients, and for pleasure. Not sure what next year will bring, but I’m sure it will be interesting.I’m an avid music fan, a sometime songwriter and guitarist, who will travel anywhere in order to see and hear great music. I’m also Chairman of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, which is like a second job, but very rewarding. You can find info at limusichalloffame.org

Are you a good cook? More important, does anyone else think you're a good cook?

I love to cook, especially Italian. The true test is that my kids invite friends over for dinner when I’m cooking. They all want a taste.

What is your favorite quote?

“It is what it is.” And what will my epitaph be? “It was what it was”.
