East Coast Ales

Founded in 2006, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is an award-winning craft brewery located in Elmsford, New York. The brewery is independently owned and operated by head brewer Scott Vaccaro. Captain Lawrence’s beers are heavily influenced by traditional Belgian ale styles with a unique American twist. Captain Lawrence Brewing is well-known for their wood and barrel-aged strong beers, and sour ales made using Brettanomyces bacteria, and wild yeasts.

SITUATION

Captain Lawrence Brewing hired EGC Group in 2014 to spearhead a total brand identity overhaul, and to develop a fresh–new line of custom illustrated packaging. The challenge was to create unique packages that had individual personalities but worked seamless together on the shelf with a common visual denominator, clearly sewing them all–together under the Captain Lawrence Brewing brand umbrella.

ACTION

EGC re-branded Captain Lawrence Brewing with a new logo, and re-designed their entire line of beer brands using bright colours, dramatic, easy-to-read typography, and custom, handmade illustrations. Each brand captured the brewery’s vision and conveyed the beer’s personality in a bold, exciting new way.

THE FINISH LINE

In just 21 months, EGC and Captain Lawrence Brewing re-developed almost 30 new beer brands. New logo, packaging, crowns, merchandise, marketing collateral, truck wraps, signage, public relations, social media, and advertising and can be found all over the North East.
